Last Friday my husband and I (and our kids) decided to do something different and drove to a mall in another state…it’s only about an hour away from our house, but it had been many years since we’d been there. Back then, the kids were small and shopping wasn’t something they wanted to do. They would get tired and cranky…
which would end up making us feel tired and cranky…
and, basically, after all that, none of us wanted to be there! :)
BUT NOW
it just so happens that ONE of those kids grew up to be a teenaged daughter
who I NOW believe was

So that makes it a little more fun for this really “not-so born-to-shop mom.”
And I’m thinking now it probably won’t be as long until we go back!

Our own mall is very small and doesn’t have a large variety of stores…
so this was our first time at a…

and, believe it or not, a

since we don’t have either one at our mall…
we rode on the escalators (which we don’t have any of either )—

had fun browsing through the books here…

shopping here…where my daughter and I found some really cute earrings!

We walked the entire mall…

did some window shopping…

walked,

and WALKED some more…
This was me at the beginning of our shopping adventure…

and THEN…
this was me at the end…

My feet and legs were sooo tired—I didn’t think I could go any further!
I was pooped!
But it was really worth it. It was so much fun!
My absolute favorite part was shopping at the country decor shop there. (I headed there first!) We have one of these at our mall, too, but this one was more spacious and had more to offer.
I had a little bit TOO MUCH fun in there.
I thought I was just going in to browse, but ended up coming out with several goodies, thanks to my hubby who talked me into it! :)
I brought home this Amish print…
a tart burner with a couple of “farmhouse” scented tarts to burn in it…
this cute miniature strainer …
and this cute jar with tie-on star …
I think it’s probably best if I don’t go back there for a while! :)
FINALLY
we shopped until we could shop no more and left for home,
stopping for a small bite to eat on the way…

I call that a very good day…
and mainly because
it was spent with my family!

Family days are so important
We do not have a mall where we live either. Understand the excitement of heading to a mall

sounds like a great day! We haven't done anything like this in ages. Love your purchases!
Hi Karen...sounds like a fun "out and about" day with your most favorite people! Such sweet treasures to cosy up your home! Hugs ♥ Teri
The only time I shop at the malls is when my daughters come over and beg me to go with them. I love the variety of shops places to stop and enjoy the eye candy. But I'm a homebody, I guess, and don't live to shop. Have a wonderful day.
Hi Karen,
How good your 'family day' sounds. I used to do the family thing when my children were old enough, it was fun. My lot have all grown, married and go shopping with their own children. I now go shopping with my 95yr old Mum and the pace is slower these days.
I like your illustrations....can totally relate.
God Bless

Karen,
An hour away isn't too far. Sounds like you got a lot of exercise and fun! Love all your purchases especially the print.
Blessings,

Sounds like a wonderful day! I would get in trouble in that country decor store, too.
I don't think there is anything as tiring as shopping all day - I don't think I was born to shop!
Sounds like you had a great day of shopping. I love all of your new goodies. I like the mall but I hate all of the walking. Thanks for sharing your day with us.
