Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day. ~Psalm 25:4-5

A Simple Woman’s Daybook ~ 02/27/2012

FOR TODAY…

simple-woman-daybook-smallOutside my window... it’s a beautiful, spring-like day. The sun is shining, making shadow patterns across the front porch where our dog is sunning himself ~ my daffodils are beginning to bloom (I think this is the first time they have bloomed in February!), and birds are singing! It is a lovely 62 degrees.

I am thinking... about the fun day we had last Friday when we drove to a different mall. It was only an hour away, but in a different state. We had almost decided not to go, but then we did---and I’m glad. It was quite a bit larger than the one we have, and by the time we walked the entire mall, my feet and legs were killing me! But it was really a lot of fun! (I’ll share more on this later!)

I am thankful... “that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

In the kitchen... my daughter is peeling an orange—I can smell it from here :) For supper tonight I think we will have salmon patties, boiled potatoes, and mixed greens.

I am wearing... jeans, a long-sleeved top, and black socks.

I am reading... my “Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady” that arrived in the mail over the weekend. Such beautiful artwork of nature!

I am hoping... and praying that my son can find a good job soon. He was laid off from the job he’s had for the past 1-1/2 years this past Friday due to “economic downturn.” He was not really happy at this job anyway, and was already looking for another, but now he has a letter of recommendation from the head manager, so that should help!

I am looking forward to... spring! I’m glad it’s almost here ♥

I am pondering…. the words to the song I just heard on the radio by Aaron Shust:

My hope is in You, Lord
All the day long
I won't be shaken by drought or storm
A peace that passes understanding is my song
And I sing
My hope is in You, Lord

One of my favorite things... the tart burner my husband bought for me last week. I’d never had one before, and I love it! It makes the house smell so good:)

A few plans for the rest of the week: groceries on Thursday, doing a little genealogy research, getting books ready to sell, writing overdue emails!

A peek into my day...

This was a nice visit! The trip to the mall reminds me of the times we would go as a family years ago, before my back problems when I could actually walk all day like you did! Hope your son finds a job and that was sweet of your hubby to buy you that tart burner! Enjoy your day!

Dear Karen,

So nice to have you stop by my blog. I will be praying for your son...my son is also job searching right now. He has finished his master's in theology...but hopes to get his doctorate soon. He wants to find a job in order to fund this...so we are praying!
Have a blessed day,
Laura

Hi, Karen,
Hasn't this winter been odd? It's the warmest one I can remember in a long time.
My daffodils aren't blooming quite yet, but I'm sure it won't be long. Yes, I think this is the first time I can remember them blooming in February!
I hope your son will be able to find another job soon. Times are hard for so many folks nowadays.
Hope you're having a great week. :)

What a delightful daybook to read! :)

Like your daffodils, some of the plants in our backyard are being "fooled" into blooming as well, though spring has not yet sprung. We've also had a very unusually warm winter.

I will keep your son in your prayers in regards to his job search. It seems these days with our shaky economy, good jobs seem quite scarce.

I'm looking forward to hearing about your mall trip in the future. :)

Have a blessed day!

Nike respect the heat. Asics Onitsuka Tiger Wearing Nike trainers shoes ran in the northern hemisphere, did you try? It's simple. Franklin Marshall Store You run slower in the heat; you run slower in humidity; if it's hot and humid you'll run significantly slower than on a cool, dry night. Now, you're probably thinking, the north face jackets "Great. I won't be able to run this summer in my town where it can be 90 plus degrees with 80 percent humidity." Not true. You can run, but you have to do three important things when training seriously in the heat of the summer. Just enjoy the summer months, Moncler Sale but be willing to alter your training in the heat.
